Know More
The Mansion traditionally belonged to the family Kongott Valiyaveettil. They also were the responsible family of two temples nearby with presiding deities being Ayyappa and Vishnu. The Temples are said to be discovered and established by Sage Parasurama himself who is also renowned as Creator of the God's own country, Kerala itself.
Chachunni Nair along with family were the foremost residents of the mansion. Chachunni Nair known as ‘Kannambra Yajman’ (meaning head of the area ) was also a District Board Member during the British period. Eventhough belonging to British Administration he was intensely patriotic and supported the freedom movement and Congress Party. Hence the mansion was a safe haven for freedom fighters.
Later generations continued with the traditions, lived in and maintained the Mansion till it was transferred to KR group, one of the leading group in Kerala hospitality industry, who added another resorts to their name, the other being KR Thekkedathu Mana resorts.
KR group with their expertise and experience developed the plot and mansion into a modern resorts even while keeping the antique quality of the mansion.
As we enter by the facade of the mansion we reach a passage which has three rooms on its side. The rooms are well furnished with attached bathrooms and dressing area.
One side of the passage reaches to the staircase which is wooden and very much of the past. As we move to upstairs we find a replica of the ground floor, a passage and three rooms on the sides. There is also one more floor with two rooms used for in- house activities.
Coming back to the ground floor, the other side of the passage reaches out to a small yet beautiful quartet, otherwise the traditional Kerala Nalukettu. On its sides are the kitchen and the dining spaces.
On the outside the mansion has spacious veranda towards its southern and western sides. The grand old trees along with newly built garden provide a warm yet cool atmosphere even through summer.
The compound is beautifully landscaped with pathways that have the grand old trees and garden plants on its sides.
The resort is situated in Manjapra village of Palakkad district, Kerala. It's proximity to the National Highway makes it a convenient place to access. Manjapra is a quiet and serene village space with lush green environment.
One claim to fame of Manjapra village is that it is the birthplace of renowned carnatic musician MD Ramanathan. A legendary carnatic musician with his own characteristic style of rendering, he still has a wide array of followers and listeners.
All these makes KR Mana heritage resorts at Manjapra, an apt place to stay for health and comfort and a calm space with traditional Kerala Village ambience to have a nice rest.
